Strength TogetHER 29 - Best and Worst Memories

My Best and Worst Memories  Lokopakar in collaboration with NIRI (Nexus Institute for Research and Innovation) has started a project to complete Strength TogetHER sessions at 10 public schools in Nepal. Under that, on 22nd July, 2022 Lokopakar conducted its final session at Padmodaya Secondary School on the topic “My best and worst memories”. Our first participant shared that her best memory at school was when she scored good marks in all subjects in her exam when she was in class 6. And, her worst was when she got lost while visiting her aunty’s house which was 5 to 10 minutes away from her home. She remembers staying home after that.  Another participant shared that her best memory was when she got to watch movies everyday during lockdown with her family. While her worst memory was when she had to leave her mom at home to come to Kathmandu.   Act of Gratefulness  “The more grateful I am, the more beauty I see.” - Mary Davis Lokopakar in collaboration with NIRI (Nexus Institute for Research and Innovation) has started a project to complete Strength TogetHER sessions at 10 public schools in Nepal. Under that, on 20th July, 2022 Lokopakar conducted Strength TogetHER session at Padmodaya Secondary School on the topic “Grateful”. With our participants, we started the session by discussing what being grateful means. We  explained that it is showing an appreciation for something done or received, and that it can be towards anyone or anything.   With this, our first participant shared her story of gratefulness. She shared that she is grateful towards her brother since he supports her in everything. He teachers her subjects that she finds difficult like Maths and Science. She added that he is studying Engineering staying in a hostel and is busy studying but still he makes time to help her. She is grateful that he encourages and m

Strength TogetHER 29- My First Period Story

My first period story  Lokopakar in collaboration with NIRI conducted a donation drive a few months ago to conduct Strength TogetHER sessions at 10 public schools in Kathmandu. NIRI (Nexus Institute for Research and Innovation) is an independent and not for profit sharing institution in Nepal with a vision to promote quality research and innovation across the nation and beyond.  Strength TogetHER is a safe space to share personal stories and experiences which bring change in attitudes and lives. Girls get to explore and express themselves which helps to unburden themselves and create new meaning.  For this, Lokopakar conducted a Strength TogetHER session at Padmodaya Secondary School. Padmodaya Secondary School is a public school located at Bhrikuti Mandap which was established in 1946. It was initially established to educate only boys but interestingly, the school started to enroll girls in 1988. We conducted our 4th session on the topic, “My First Period”.  One participant shar

  My Aim  Lokopakar in collaboration with NIRI (Nexus Institute for Research and Innovation) plans to conduct Strength TogetHER sessions in 10 public schools in Nepal. Strength TogetHER is a platform where girls come together to share their stories and learn from each other.  Under this, Lokopakar conducted its sessions at Padmodaya School, and on 19th July, 2022 we discussed on the topic, “My Aim”. Our first participant shared that  she wants to gradually explore her likes and dislikes first and then decide later. She doesn’t have an aim yet. Whereas another participant shared that she wants to be a bank manager and wants to work in Nepal Rastra Bank, one of the most reputed banks of Nepal. She adds that she works hard for that and enjoys accounting classes as well.  “I want to be a doctor just like my father and my soon to be doctor sister, who is doing her MBBS.   My Small Happiness  Lokopakar in collaboration with NIRI (Nexus Institute for Research and Innovation) has started a project to complete Strength TogetHER sessions at 10 public schools in Nepal. On July 18, 2022 Lokopakar conducted the second session of Strength TogetHER sessions for girls studying in Grade 9 and 10 at Shree Shaheed Shukra Secondary School on the topic “My Small Happiness”. Our first participant started the story sharing on the topic by saying that she feels the happiest when she shares her feelings and things with her mother. Her mother is also her problem solver and always looks forward to talking to her when she returns home from school.  Another participant shared that she feels happy when she shares her small daily experience with her best friend.  Other participants also shared the same feeling along with finishing work on time, she said that these two things make her happy.  “I feel happy when I meet small kids, pets and also while sharing my things with my f
